David, who lived from about 1010 to 970 BC, is traditionally credited with writing many of the Psalms. In this verse from Psalm 59, he calls upon God to deliver him from the dangerous schemes of violent enemies. He appeals to the LORD by saying, “Deliver me from those who do iniquity And save me from men of bloodshed” (v.2).
